While Jojo’s ‘Jumping Trains’ album is revving up for its future release, her vocals soar in the recently leaked track ‘Limbo’.  The ‘Too Little Too Late’ singer finds herself channeling her inner Kelly Clarkson in a tune that sounds very reminiscent of the American Idol alum’s hit ‘Breakaway’.  Take a listen after the jump...

If ‘Limbo’ will make the final cut has yet to be determined.  But, to say that Ms. Levesque’s vocals are on point in this would be a grave understatement.  While such has always been the case for the 20-year-old singer, to hear maturity in a voice that was already defined beyond its years is a welcomed rarity.  Here’s hoping that ‘Jumping Trains’ gives the singer the jump her career deservedly needs.

Last week in NYC stars came out to The Gramercy Theatre to celebrate She’sThe First live benefit concert “Girls Who Rock”. Host Tourex hosted the event of rising and notable female singers who took the stage to perform for the special cause. We caught up with powerhouse vocalist Jo Jo, popular twin duo Nina Sky & rising star Kimberly Nichole and found out why this event was so important to them and whats up next for the Girls Who Rock. Check out our interview and performances from the event below.

JoJo is back with a new album called Jumping Trains. Go to her MySpace page to listen to her new songs!

TWIST: What are some of the themes you sing about on the new album? I noticed you sing about independence a lot...
Jojo: Yes, totally. Jumping Trains represents a bunch of different things I was going through: going from girl to woman, moving from Boston to LA, leaving some things behind and entering a new chapter of my life...Independence was something I was really going through and you hear that in my music.

TWIST: What other kind of life changes were you going through while making this album?
Jojo: The decision to totally dedicate myself to my career was something that influenced the album because I was really conflicted about whether I should take the route of going to college or not. But I chose to give my career my all.

TWIST: What do you think you're learning now that you wouldn't have learned in college?
Jojo: I think I have a thicker skin than if I were at college. You have to be a tough cookie to be in this industry!

TWIST: Are there specific songs on Jumping Trains you thing teen girls can especially relate to?
Jojo: Completely! The title track, Jumping Tains is something a lot of people can relate to. Say you're in a relationship where you just feel a bit tied down or you feel you can't accomplish your goals. You just need to be free and learn who you are. That's a really common theme for young girls who need to be taking that space and taking the journey alone and not bring anyone along with you.

TWIST: So you think it's important to kind of figure out who you are on your own before jumping into a relationship?
Jojo: I think so. I think it's ideal to do that, but I know it's really tempting to want to share with someone. But you don't want to be molded into something - you should be rooted in who you are.

TWIST: What kind of guy catches your eye?
Jojo: I'm really drawn to personality. I love a good story. I love intelligence of course, and that isn't really something you see at first. I like to get to know someone. I'm not really the type of person that's like 'Oooh. Look at that hot guy. I'm going to talk to him!' I really like to sit down, have a conversation and see where his mind is at. But as far as a physical type, I really like a guy that takes care of himself and is in good shape. I like muscles!

It's been a while since we were all singing along to "Too Little Too Late" on the radio, but Jojo is back and ready to release her third album! Jumping Trains is set to drop later this year, and will be a whole new sound for the former Aquamarine star. She sat down with CosmoGirl to talk about her new sound, dealing with some tough personal drama, and of course, her beauty routine for summer!

CosmoGirl: How long have you been working on this album?

JoJo: It's been about two and a half years.

CG: Are the songs from the beginning of the process really different from the more recent ones?

J: Completely. I've been through a lot, both personally and professionally, and the album that I started to record two and a half years ago is a different album from the one that exists today. I even changed the album title. First it was All I Want is Everything, and now it's Jumping Trains.

CG: You call it "pop with an anger management problem".

J: Once you hear it, you'll be like, "Yep! That makes sense." It's on the edge and it's aggressive, but you don't forget the fact that I'm still a girl. You still have that feminine vulnerability.

CG: What triggered the shift in direction?

J: I just went through a lot, with family and personal relationships, and I think I became kind of hardened, or just a little edgier. Angsty. And I think that instead of wearing all black, I just expressed myself musically. I just wanted to show that I'm tough and whatever you throw at me I can handle. An "I'm gonna break your heart before you break mine" type of sensibility. And I think that's what you hear in this record.

CG: How do you stay strong?

J: I'm lucky to have a great support system in my friends and some of my family. If you have those people that you trust, go ahead and fall back into them and let them be your hammock and cocoon and let them embrace you. It's okay to open yourself up because I don't think it's right to bear the burden alone. I also like to take long drives sometimes and listen to, John Mayer. That really helps me! Sometimes I'll just be crying, driving down by the beach. I like to go look at scenery. It centers me and I'm able to release and then feel hopeful. Music really does that for me.

CG: Is that what your music is going to be like? It sounds like there are a lot of really fun, dance-y songs like her new song, "The Other Chick".

J: I want people to connect to my lyrics, but also have fun. Even in the songs where they're having fun, I'm saying some real stuff. I wanted to have honest, vulnerable moments, even in the songs that you can dance to and have fun with. So it's not a super heavy album, it's just an honest album.

CG: How long ago did you dye your hair? Was that a part of that same change and honest expression??

J: About a year ago, maybe? I was inspired by Colin Farrell in the fact that he's Irish and has freckles but with black hair. I'm a bunch of different things, Irish Polish, Native American, and French, but I wanted to tap into that Irish side and be freckle-y with black hair, so that's what I did.
